Come lead a team that fights systemic injustice every day. SPD appellate attorneys routinely argue in front of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, litigating some of the state’s most consequential cases and influencing decisions that set the legal standard for every courtroom in the state.
As head of the Appellate Division, you’ll supervise the roughly 50 attorneys and professional support staff between our Madison and Milwaukee Appellate Offices who act as a final check on Wisconsin’s courts.
As a key member of the SPD’s agency leadership team, you’ll be more than just a manager. You will:
Shape the strategy
Assist in long-term planning and development for the entire agency.
Influence the system
Act as a liaison between the SPD and courts, prosecutors and the private bar to foster a more equitable legal system.
Build a culture of excellence
Mentor and train attorneys and staff on complex cases.
Be a voice for our clients
File amicus briefs in non-SPD cases to inform appellate courts on how a ruling will affect clients and SPD’s work in the circuit courts.
