MADISON, Wis. – Today, the Wisconsin State Council on Affirmative Action presented the 2024 Lifetime of Service Award to Gina Pruski, who recently retired from the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office (SPD) after more than 30 years of service. Gina first began her career with SPD in 1992 and served as the agency’s Director of Training and Development for 20 years.
As the Director of Training and Development, Gina was instrumental in developing and implementing initiatives and training programs that promoted cultural competency, fostered diversity, and created a healthy work environment. Gina produced and facilitated numerous training opportunities on racism intervention strategies and implicit bias awareness, and she also launched workplace wellness initiatives that prioritized sustainable service to others.
“For decades, Gina has been an exceptional leader in effectively promoting diversity, inclusivity, and wellness so that staff are prepared to serve our clients and communities,” said State Public Defender Jennifer Bias. “As the Training Director, she prepared the next generation of attorneys and staff to be more inclusive and thoughtful, and we are deeply grateful for her long-time service to the agency and the people of Wisconsin.”
